About WOPL! and the Founding Mothers

The idea for WOPL! was born when Claire lived in Boston for a while with her family. One day she visited the Boston Children’s Museum together with her little boy Benk (5).

There she discovered a place where children and parents could play, explore and learn together. Back in Amsterdam, the idea stayed with her: why doesn’t something like this exist in the Netherlands?

When Claire and Pien met, they soon discovered a shared dream: to create a place where children and adults can play, explore and connect together. That dream grew into WOPL!.

Today WOPL! has grown into a vibrant world of play and discovery where families play, create and explore together. But WOPL! is much more than just Claire and Pien.

Even before opening, Laura joined WOPL!. As an educationalist, she helps shape everything we do on an educational and pedagogical level. She is the heart of WOPL! and makes sure that play and development go hand in hand.
