What to do with children when it rains in Amsterdam

Grey skies, downpours and children who need to burn off energy: every parent in Amsterdam knows the feeling. Luckily, when it rains you don't have to switch on cartoons for hours. At WOPL! at Stadionplein 300 in Amsterdam-Zuid, children up to 8 years old find a warm, indoor play and learning world where the weather outside doesn't matter at all. What to do with children when it rains: play indoors at WOPL!

WOPL! is fully indoors, so whether it's drizzling or pouring: inside it stays cosy, dry and warm. We have three play worlds where children learn and discover through play:

• World of Water — catch fish, build water tracks and splash and discover to your heart's content.
• World of Construction — build with giant blocks, steer dump trucks and climb in the climbing corner.
• World of Art — paint, draw, mould clay in the clay corner and discover colours.

From baby and toddler to preschooler and schoolchild: at WOPL! there's something to enjoy for every age up to 8 years old. A rainy day turns into an outing full of wonder, where children learn by playing without even realising it.

Relaxing for parents: coffee, lunch or drinks while the children play

A rainy outing doesn't have to be tiring. In the cosy WOPL! Café you can enjoy a cup of coffee, a tasty lunch or a drink, while the children keep playing in the play worlds. That way parents get a moment for themselves too. Does the sun peek through the clouds after all? Then the sunny terrace of WOPL! Square is a lovely spot to sit outside. When it rains, you simply stay comfortably indoors — dry, warm and cosy.

Easy to reach in Amsterdam-Zuid

WOPL! is located at Stadionplein 300, 1076 CK Amsterdam, right next to the Olympic Stadium. That makes us one of the nicest places in Amsterdam-Zuid to go to when it rains. We're open every day from 09:00 to 17:30, so whether you drop by in the morning or the afternoon: there's always room to play. On Thursdays adults get free entry (with regular tickets), ideal for a spontaneous outing on a rainy Thursday.

Handy to know: tickets and prices

Arranging a ticket for your rainy-day outing is easy. A single ticket for a child (1–7 years) costs €9,95 online or €10,95 at the door. For children aged 8+ and adults it's €6,95 online or €7,95 at the door. Coming to play more often? Then a membership (from €11 per month) or a flexible strip card (from €8 per visit) is a good deal — perfect for the Amsterdam rainy season. With the Stadspas you pay €1,50 online per person.
